Lisa, the Health Nut

I'm lisa and I loooove healthy food!  The lifestyle I chose to live is eating only natural or organic food products, minimally processed whenever possible.  What I can't stand is that people may  automatically assume all "health food" that I eat isn't flavorful or tasty.  THIS IS NOT TRUE!  Why would I eat stuff that doesn't taste good?  So my mission is to spread the word that "healthy" does not mean "tasteless".  Healthy food can be just as yummy as the not-so healthy types!   I'll let you know what foods are good, and which ones aren't so good. :)

Ernies Salsa

Ernie’s Epic Foods brings some very tasty salsas all with one guarantee. YOU’RE GONNA LIKE IT- or Ernie will buy it back! How can you go wrong? You either A. get some pretty tasty salsa or B. get some okay-tasting salsa, but get your money back!

Fortunately, I experienced choice A. with Ernie’s Epic Salsa in the Perfect Peach  and Gourmet Red varieties. These salsas state to “pack a zesty one-two punch of sweet and heat that will leave your taste buds reeling and have you coming back for more”. This sounds promising. Where are my tortilla chips?

Perfect Peach- ooh!  This one is like a “dessert salsa”. It reminded me of (don’t laugh…) a mixture of peach cobbler and salsa put together! There is no spice at all, and is sweet, with peach and citrusy flavors. This one would be very good for cooking, rather than with chips. In fact, I plan on using it with some chopped up pineapple and cooking it with chicken (or tofu) & rice for a tasty, pineapple-peach chicken dinner. Yum-o! I liked this one the best, but I’m more sweet than heat :D .  This one gets 4 1/2 stars

Red Gourmet- this one definitely has more spice, and was preferred to my brother (the king of hot sauce) over the peach variety. It went well with tortilla chips (courtesy of Food Should Taste Good ! ), and had a nice, spicy kick. However, the more I ate it, the more spicy it became (warning to you salsa lovers who like to eat out of the jar!!). I would estimate a medium spice level, with a good amount of chunky onions, peppers and tomatoes. This one gets 4 stars.

Overall, these 2 salsas are very good. I reccommend you give Ernie’s Epic Food’s salsas a try. They are also low in sodium,(but you can’t even tell!) which is great. Of course, make sure you pair it with some all natural tortilla chips, and none of those overly processed ones, and you’ll have yourself a satisfying and healthy snack!
