PB Jenny

hey there friends and thank you so much for visiting my page =) In a few short words I am a 19 year old English major at Sacred Heart University with a passion for family, love, creativity, yoga, and i kind of like peanut butter too ;). Sure, those are just a few tidbits about me but what is the story of the girl behind the jar?

May-day!

HAPPY MAY, my little nuggets! Is it just me or does each month seem to be passing by faster and faster? Not sure how I feel about this. I want the summer to linger.

I always try to take each new month as an opportunity to present myself with new challenges.

Unfortunately, more often than not, I fail.

However, this month I will be heading back home for the summer (in fact, tomorrow is my last day in my apartment. Ack!) and think the change in scenery may be the motivation I need to really pursue some positive goals for myself. Rather than setting myself up for failure with a long ambitious list, I’ve compiled three challenges that I hope to achieve (at least to some extent) before the end of the month.

Let’s see..

1. Core Fusion Challenge:

Now that I’m going home I won’t have access to a free gym anymore. As much as I love strength training, I don’t love it enough to pay $60 a month. I know a few months ago I declared my decreasing love for workout DVDs, I think that was heavily rooted in the fact that many of the DVDs I was doing were aerobic based. I came across the barre method of training on a few weeks ago and after doing a little bit of research it sounded absolutely perfect. Essentially the barre method integrates yoga, pilates, and strength training. In other words, I’m pretty sure it was created for me. Although the Core Fusion challenge is intended for weight loss, that’s only if it’s supplemented with cardio which I, of course, will not be engaging in. I debated between the Tracy Andersen Method, Physique 57, and Core Fusion DVDs, eventually settling on the latter. While the amazon reviews were really positive for the most part, and the DVD collection was by far the cheapest, it was Dori’s rave reviews and challenge that really convinced me. Right now my [tentative] plan is to do one DVD 4 days/week, with 2 days of yoga and 1 day of rest. I think my “split” will look a little suttin’ suttin’ like this…

Day 1: Body Sculpt DVD

Day 2: Thighs and Glutes

Day 3: Yoga

Day 4: Pilates Plus

Day 5: Pure Abs & Arms (this DVD wasn’t in the collection – I purchased it on the side)

Day 6: Yoga

Day 7: Rest

Ah, for some reason this workout plan makes me feel giddy! I can’t wait to start :)

I’m going to try and offer weekly feedback from my challenge but, like I said, I have commitment issues when it comes to goals.

2. Cook more! Self-explanatory, I suppose. As of late I have been way too reliant on “simple” foods like oatmeal and peanut flour for the sake of simplicity and convenience While tasty, I want to expand my culinary ambition and what better opportunity to do that that in a fully stocked kitchen?

3. Photography & blogging: For some reason I feel as though my love for photography has declined a bit this past semester. I blame the snow and lack of inspiration. This summer I really want to revive my passion and take pictures of things aside from, ya know, food. Perhaps I’ll even go through with that Etsy shop I talked about for like, a day. I also want to take blogging a little more seriously and create more interesting content for y’all. I think I used school work as an excuse for me to “slack off” with blogging but now that I’ll be home for the summer, I’m really going to take advantage of the down time!

~~

I really can’t wait for the month, but I suppose I should get through today first. On the agenda = packing my life away for the trek home tomorrow and finalizing some projects. Should be a good one! :)

Have you ever tried barre training? I’d love any feedback you may have!

What are your goals for May?

have a glorious day, my friends!
